What is this test for?
This test measures the intensity of recent depressive symptoms: low mood, loss of interest, sleep, energy, concentration, self-esteem. It helps make a feeling more concrete and track how it changes over time.
Who is it for?
For anyone going through a hard time who wants to see clearly, or who wishes to track how their mood evolves. In the bipolar context, telling the low phases apart is valuable.
How does it work?
You answer 9 questions about the past 2 weeks (from “never” to “nearly every day”). We compute the total score and a severity band, with the screening verdict, the estimated probability and the reliability. If you mention dark thoughts, support resources are recalled with care.
The science behind this test
The PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionnaire) is a validated instrument, derived from the diagnostic criteria for depression. Above a threshold, the screen is positive; the score also reflects severity. Exact sensitivity, specificity and source are shown with your result.
The reference tests used by professionals
This questionnaire replaces none of the tools used in consultation. Here are the ones professionals actually use:

Frequently asked questions
Does a high score mean I am depressed?
Not on its own. The PHQ-9 measures symptom intensity; the diagnosis of depression belongs to a professional. A high score invites you to seek help promptly, especially if it lasts.
Does the test cover suicidal thoughts?
Yes, one question concerns thoughts of death or self-harm. If you answer it positively, we gently recall support resources for your country. You matter.
Is it confidential and free?
Yes, entirely: local computation, no answer transmitted, no sign-up required. Saving your result, encrypted, is optional.
